I've always had a keen interest in China
When I was looking for firms that had a strong presence here,
Freshfields was the leading one. I did the 4-week summer vacation
programme and really liked the people, so when I got the offer to
join, I jumped at the opportunity.
There's a lot of practical training
During my IP/IT seat I worked on a deal where we had to go into
China and carry out due diligence on a factory to find out whether
there was any IP infringement. I visited the factory, looked at the
machinery, and talked to the workers. When we came back I drafted
the due diligence report.
The team here is brilliant, and
you get to do a wide variety of work
When I was researching firms, people always had very good things
to say about Freshfields and about the people. I thought it was
very important to find a firm where I felt I fitted in,
culture-wise. What I liked about Freshfields people is that there
isn't a 'type'. There's a real mix of people and they all have
their different interests. They're interesting people - in and
outside of work.
