Since joining Freshfields in Milan, I've had to adapt to a new city, new friends and a different way of life. And because nearly every international transaction is in English, I also face the challenge of expressing Italian legal concepts and principles in another language,
The team spirit in the office here is fantastic, regularly a group of us go out for dinner or to the cinema. My colleagues are vital to the way I work, we work well together and know how to have fun. And our ability to collaborate is supported by the commitment Freshfields shows us. I never feel as though I'm working alone here, I'm always part of a bigger team effort.
My work is as rewarding as the relationships around me. As a junior associate, I have worked on the listing of an Italian company on the stock exchange and at the moment I'm part of a team of eight lawyers working on the merger of two listed companies. This complex job will take us several months to complete, but it's a great experience for a junior lawyer. We're often up against deadlines, but we never compromise on the quality and output of the work we deliver to our clients.
