About Freshfields Japan

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has a well-established history in Japan. We have been operating in Japan since 1988 and were joined by our first Japanese lawyers in 1998. Our Tokyo office now has over 30 lawyers, over two-thirds of them being locally admitted bengoshi (lawyers admitted in Japan). We offer local and international clients Japanese and international law advice as a fully-integrated law firm. We believe our team is one of the most integrated and effective teams of lawyers in Tokyo.

We are a fully integrated practice and provide domestic and international clients with English, US and Japanese legal services across the following practice areas: antitrust and competition, corporate, dispute resolution, employment/labour, finance, and real estate. In most cases our bengoshi and international lawyers work side by side to deliver the best results for our clients.

Our lawyers combine their international experience with in-depth local law knowledge and have worked on some of the largest and most prestigious deals in recent years. These often involve cross-border elements and we are able to bring together multidisciplinary teams of specialists to meet the demands of such complex transactions.
